Santa Melodica

A drifting sound installation made from floating melodicas and balloons, unfolding with the current of Vienna’s Danube Canal.

Around twenty floating melodicas are connected to pre-inflated balloons that act as both air reservoirs and flotation devices. As the air escapes, fixed keys produce a slowly shifting harmony that moves downstream.

The work is curated by Mimie Maggale, realised with Schwimmverein Donaukanal and presented as part of the extended Sonic Territories 2026 programme and the 2026 Swimming Parade.
